The Buffalo Bills had a rough week six. Starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor sat out with a knee sprain, wide receiver Sammy Watkins suffered a foot injury and the Bills fell at home to the undefeated Cincinnati Bengals, 34-21.
To make matters worse, Buffalo got ripped up in the media for their custom football uniforms they chose to wear this past weekend. The team rolled with the “blue on blue” uniform, with blue jerseys and blue pants. Generally the team will wear blue jerseys, but rarely blue all around. In fact, the Bills donned the all blue look for just the second time ever this past week, as they debuted the new look for the first time just last season.
For The Win’s take suggest they never should have tried the all blue scheme out, to begin with. Chris Chase voiced his very strong stance on the all blue uni’s, suggesting that Bills uniforms typically look pretty good, but in this case, it’s a big miss for Buffalo.
Chase broke it down through an entire feature length article, but you can probably get the jist in this quote alone:
“They look like every second-grader’s favorite crayon, the one that gets worn down to a nub far too early and you’re stuck having to use other, darker- and lighter-hued blues the rest of the school year. Papa Smurf thinks it’s too blue.”
Yikes. Chris Chase doesn’t like the Bills alternate uniforms. That much, we’re sure of.
The problem is, I don’t see what the issue is. Buffalo rolls with blue jerseys already and the solid, same color approach is one numerous teams take with their alternate jerseys – quite often, I might add. And while it’s possible it’s not the desired shade of blue for everyone out there, I don’t know if it deserved a tongue lashing, such as the one Chase dishes out.
Truth be told, Buffalo’s blue on blue jerseys aren’t half bad. It’s unfortunate that they couldn’t help the Bills get a win, but the uniforms probably didn’t deserve the negative attention they ended up getting.
