Part of watching Major League Baseball is taking in all of the sights and sounds. The games are woefully unpredictable and even when they are, you can often sit through 10 innings of one run baseball. Needless to say, what you see, hear and even eat can make or break your day.
Focusing on the “see” aspect, it’s interesting to think about which teams have the best custom baseball uniforms, and which may want to go back to the drawing board. You may agree or disagree with some of our picks (hey, that’s what the comments section is for!), but we found five MLB uniforms we thought either tried too hard or aren’t trying hard enough:
5 Worst MLB Uniforms
Cleveland Indians
Cleveland gonna Cleveland. It’s not nice, but it’s the truth. The Indians follow suit with all things Cleveland sports, as their uniforms are just bland and uninspiring. The Indians have a cool and timeless logo, but the rest of their uniforms lack any punch. They should follow the Cavaliers and Browns and at least shake things up a bit.
Colorado Rockies
We’ll give in to one thing – the Black alternative Rockies jerseys aren’t bad. They’re even kind of cool. But the basic white jerseys and all of the purple, it’s just a bit much. Basically the purple New York Yankees, but not nearly as good, Colorado hasn’t changed much since coming into the league over 20 years ago. That’s not a good thing.
San Francisco Giants
The Giants are no strangers to winning and it’s hard to completely fault them for going with a traditional look. Unfortunately, it isn’t the least bit splashy and touches a little too hard on boring. The Giants have a decent logo and the orange and black always meshes well, but their white jerseys are about as bland as it gets.
Milwaukee Brewers
The Brew Crew went from a vintage, old school look to a really modern day look that ended up being a total miss. As weird as the old ball in the glove look used to be, the yellow and blue throwback jerseys at least made you feel like you were at an MLB game. The current Brewers uniforms isn’t the worst in the league and you can’t fault a team for trying to upgrade, but overall it’s a miss. More specifically, sometimes throwbacks aren’t meant to be alternative uniforms. Sometimes they should just be the standard. For Milwaukee, that’s very much the case.
Miami Marlins
Oh, Marlins. Miami is a great team to cap our worst MLB uniforms list, as they’re clearly trying way too hard. The Florida Marlins jerseys probably would have made this list, too, but for different reasons. Miami has far too many colors that don’t make sense, and the weirdness involved with their “M” really takes the cake. It’s clear they went out of their way to make a fresh, vibrant look for the team’s move, and that’s not necessarily a good thing.
